Growing up as a student in an NYC Jewish Day School for 15 years, I had to learn how to handle a heavy academic load from a young age. Being successful while managing a demanding dual-curriculum and numerous after school activities required that I develop sharp executive functioning skills. I continued to develop my study skills as a pre-medical student at Washington University in St. Louis. Later, during my 2.5 years as a medical student at the NYU School of Medicine, I again found that studying efficiently was my key to success.
At Wash U., I developed a true passion for teaching as a Pre-Med Peer Tutor and an Organic Chemistry Teaching Assistant. After graduating in 2015, I began helping students to write their college essays and tutoring students of all ages in all subjects - Science, Math, English/Humanities and Hebrew subjects. As an outgrowth of my tutoring, I developed a focus on supporting students with executive functioning challenges, many of whom struggle with ADHD. I also help students prepare for ISEEs, ACT and SAT. Tutoring and coaching students, while watching them uncover their fullest academic potentials, has become a passion of mine and a great source of joy and fulfillment in my life. My students consistently see results in their academic performance that exceed what they previously believed could be possible. My goal is to pass on what I have learned to my students - both the academic knowledge as well as the study skills I have developed. My core belief is that self-confidence and success go hand-in-hand; students are more likely to succeed academically when they have built self-confidence in their abilities, and their success will in turn build more confidence. |
